This is meant as a talisman for protection from fire damage. It’s purpose is to remind you, or call out to you, when you are creating a dangerous situation (like forgetting to turn off the iron, or leaving the house while water is burning on the stove.) It is also meant to take away the desires of those who would commit arson or play with matches or fire in an irresponsible way.
